Is OceanGate Website Down?

August 2024 · 2 minute read

People are wondering if Ocean Gate Expeditions’ website has been permanently taken down or not.

It planned to explore 95% of the seafloor that human eyes have never seen in 2023, about 600km (370 miles) away from the Titanic wreck site.

Earlier this week, a US Navy submersible that was bound for the Titanic suffered a ‘catastrophic implosion.’

There have been questions raised about why OceanGate couldn’t save the sub and whether its mission was safe.

A decade before the Titanic went missing, both inside and outside experts warned of the possibility of ‘catastrophic’ problems.

There was also a fake OceanGate Expeditions Twitter account that posted something that infuriated its followers.

We will update this post as more information becomes available about when and if OceanGate will be back up.

Who is on OceanGate submarine?

As part of its commercial, research, and military operations, OceanGate Inc. provides crewed submersible assets and expertise.

The company’s manned submersibles are used for exploration, research, and filmmaking.

OceanGate submarine crews are made up of scientists, researchers, filmmakers, and other professionals with a passion for underwater exploration.

In 2023, an OceanGate submarine planned to explore the Titanic wreck site, which is 95% of the seafloor that humans have never seen.

Was the CEO of OceanGate on the sub?

According to the latest information, Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate, was on board Titan when it went missing in the North Atlantic. Deep-sea exploration built Rush’s reputation as an explorer and innovator.

The U.S. Coast Guard reported that Rush was one of five people aboard the submersible when it imploded.

The Coast Guard has confirmed that the submersible that disappeared near the Titanic wreck is the one that went missing.

The granddaughter of the Straus sisters, Ida and Isidor, who died on the Titanic in 1912, Wendy Rush, Rush’s wife, has an even deeper connection to this tragedy.

Rush admitted in 2021 that he had broken some rules while building Titan, the doomed submersible.
