Ms. Lauryn Hill is currently on the road to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her magnum opus, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, but has unfortunately been dealing with vocal issues along the way. The New Jersey singer announced on Monday (Oct. 30) that she has been instructed by doctors to rest her voice. The decision led her to cancel the Texas concert just hours before showtime.

“As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so,” Hill wrote in a tweet. “I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap.”

She concluded by thanking her fans for their continued support and insisted she will make up for the last minute change, writing, “I need to heal and rest the voice in order to continue the tour. For these reasons, sadly, my doctors have advised me to postpone tonight’s show. Much love to all of you for your support, and I look forward to coming back to Texas soon.”

The next scheduled stop on the tour is on Thursday (Nov. 2) at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colo. The “To Zion” songbird previously cancelled the Philadelphia date as well, and that show has been officially rescheduled to Nov. 25, with Hill promising it will “be a special one.”

In related news, Ms. Hill surprised fans back in September with a memorable reunion. During her set at Global Citizen Festival, she brought out The Fugees and together they performed hits like “How Many Mics” before diving into “Ready Or Not,” “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” and “Fu-Gee-La.” Revisit their set below.
