The Problem Jennifer Aniston Has Standing Near Adam Sandler On Red Carpets

September 2024 · 6 minute read

Highlights

Jennifer Aniston is one of the world's best dressed women but this can sometimes cause her issues with co-stars, especially Adam Sandler.

During a red carpet event for the sequel to Murder Mystery, Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler found themselves in a debate over clothing. The Friends star was wearing a hand-crafted dress by Versace while her co-star was wearing a New York Knicks hoodie and casual pants.

Aniston jokingly declared "I'm not standing next to him," before seeing her co-star, Mark Strong, who was wearing a suit and tie and screaming, "Mark!" she pointed at Strong and comically said, "I mean this is what I'm talking about… Sweatpants."

To which the Happy Gilmore star responded, “You said it, you texted me, ‘Please wear your sweatshirt,'” to which Aniston clarified, “I said, ‘Please don’t wear your sweatshirt”.

In this article, we take a look at why Jennifer Aniston doesn't like Adam Sandler's fashion choices and how her own fashion sense differs from the comedian's. We also discuss how Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler met.

Jennifer Aniston Rips Into Adam Sandler's Dress Sense

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler have been friends for over three decades and while her style has evolved, Sandler has never strayed much from his staples of t-shirt and shorts.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Aniston admits her Just Go With It co-star is a stubborn dresser and while she praised his talents, she revealed she was less impressed with his fashion sense.

Jimmy Fallon asked the Horrible Bosses star if it was weird to see Sandler wearing a suit when he showed up to accept the Mark Twain award. “It is weird,” Aniston admitted to the chat show host, “because it kind of looks like he’s just playing dress-up. And he kind of just — seems very uncomfortable.”

Jennifer Aniston told the story about the time they filmed the first Murder Mystery movie in Italy and how she and his wife, Jackie Sandler, were dressed up to a nice dinner. “And [Sandler] shows up in basketball shorts. Satin basketball shorts with white piping,” Aniston explained, sounding appalled. “And Nike high-tops and a turquoise velour [shit] that had no relationship to the bottom. It was just —” Aniston looks at the audience in disbelief of her co-stars' appearance.

“But he kind of, you know, [said] ‘Vogue did this,’” Aniston told Fallon in disgust.

“Vogue, you know, give him the style icon, made him a style icon.”

Adam Sandler explained to Drew Barrymore how he gets dressed for events whilst appearing on her show.

"I go into my closet; I got a bunch of t-shirts and shorts, kinda they're all the same … I usually go t-shirt first … I just want to cover that quickly. I'm like, what the hell, grab anything. Then I go with shorts, and I throw them on. Sometimes they'll be slightly too tight. I go, let me take those off and get the triple-X shorts on."

The Fashion Rules Jennifer Aniston Follows

Unlike Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston has been a fashion icon since she played Rachel Green in Friends. She is known for her simple yet elegant red carpet looks but they can take more effort than it seems.

So what is Aniston’s secret to a flawless red carpet look? It’s all about the strategic car ride. “No wrinkles... harder than it looks!” she explained. She has shared images of her on the way to event in a SUV, seat reclined so she is laying in a horizontal position.

But some of her beauty tips are a little more basic, "The best beauty tip I have for people is to sleep and drink water, honestly. Did you know that so few people actually drink water? I'll get mad at my friend Courteney Cox all the time because she'll tell me she hasn't had a sip of water today—and I'm like…are you out of your mind? Water is everything."
